ibrid xtraTM
As with all ibrid®,
ibrid xtraTM provides access to online and offline digital content via the same interface. The difference here
is in its usage, which is dedicated specifically and exclusively to the dissemination of “extra” or bonus content offered on music
CDs and movie DVDs.
The world of music, film and television is undergoing a profound mutation. Consumers of all ages
now carry mp3/mp4 readers with screens in order to listen to the radio or television broadcasts,
USB Flash Drives allow to quickly transfer documents from one computer to another, high speed is
now readily available, and pirated copies of songs and films circulate freely.
Yet, despite this fascination with all things virtual, people still enjoy
having their content stored on the original storage device – as long as they
recognise and appreciate the added value.
The bonus features intended for the computer found on certain
CDs and DVDs contribute to the increased interest in these types of
physical storage devices while Internet links are often added to improve
the interactivity and lifecycle of the bonus content. Though the addition
of Weblinks may be a good idea in theory, the user is forced to exit the
navigation interface included on the CD or DVD in order to access the Web
content: the content must be viewed via a Web browser (Internet Explorer or other).
The ibrid xtraTM technology solves this problem by allowing online and offline content to be
viewed via a single interface in complete transparency; thus providing the user with a much richer viewing experience,
in a captive and homogeneous setting, that adds real value to the music CD or movie DVD.
Additionally, by adding Securom® technology to the CD or DVD, the online content accessible via the ibrid xtraTM interface may only be viewed on the original CD or DVD (and not on copied versions), providing even more value to the original physical storage unit.
