ibrid IDTM
ibrid® technology (providing access to
online and offline content via the same interface) placed on a CD-ROM with a unique identification code.
This feature allows a server to identify a given CD-ROM in order to:
activate an account, provide access to pay-per-view or controlled content,
participate in a contest, decipher the encrypted contents of a CD-ROM after
activation, register a copy of a game or software application, download free
software, games, telephone ring-tones, songs, etc.
Because the code burned on the CD-ROM may only be accessed one time,
for the disk’s initial identification, people with copied versions of an
ibrid IDTM CD-ROM (pirated) will not be able to access the features linked
to the code. As such, one may open an account with an ibrid IDTM CD-ROM but,
once activated, it will be impossible to open another account using the same
CD-ROM (or copied version). Furthermore, it will also be impossible to access
the account without the username and password selected by the original owner
of the CD-ROM.
